Kickin 2018 in the Bin

So long, farewell! It’s been one heck of year hasn’t it? So why not make my first foray into 2019 about the rest of my trash from the end of 2018! I’m really proud of myself for finishing a few of these products as I’ve finally gotten better about actually using things up in my stash! Now on to the juicy stuff... First up these are all the body and hair care goodies I polished off.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo

What it is: smoothing and deep cleansing shampoo

How long I had it: almost 2 years?

Feelings: Love. This mini has been on so many trips with me and I’m so proud to have finally finished this cute little guy! As much as I love this formula I’m ready to try something new on my travel adventures.

Repurchased: Not Now

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Conditioner

What it is: smoothing and hydrating conditioner

How long I had it: almost 2 years?

Feelings: Love. I have been using this for quite some time and finally finished it up! Isn’t it so satisfying to finish a conditioner and shampoo at the same time! Same thoughts as the shampoo I loved the formula but its time for something new.

Repurchased: Not Now.

Jo Malone Basil and Neroli hand and body wash

What it is: a lush scented body wash

How Long I had it: Roughly 2 years

Felings: I loved this beautiful scent and I’m super into a pump top body wash. I did rotate it around with some other options that’s why it hung around for so long. I really liked how it rinsed off quickly and the fragranced mellowed out nicely on the skin.

Repurchased: Nope

IGK No More Blow mini

What it is: leave in treatment to shorten air dry time

How Long I had it: 2 and a half months

Feelings: literal heart eyes! I am loving what this is doing to my hair, also known as my hair dries in less than 8 hours now!

Repurchased:  Oh yes! Already using it.

Alterna Infinite Color Hold Conditioner mini

What it is:  a color protecting conditioner

How long I had it:  too long maybe a year floating around my shower?

Feelings:  I love this conditioner! I really love how this made my hair feel amazing and oh so sleek and smooth. As much as I love this conditioner I still have yet to purchase a full size...

Repurchased:  nah

Kiehl’s Soy Milk and Honey Body Scrub

What it is:  a hydrating but still abrasive body scrub

How long I had it:  4 solid months

Feelings:  I really enjoy this scrub, I know I can always go back to it. I found it scrubby enough without being too aggressive or stripping.

Repurchased:  not yet but I will for sure

Jo Malone Geranium and Walnut scrub mini

What it is:  a dense fragranced body scrub

How long I had it: roughly 2 months of actual use but spread out over a year

Feelings:  meh. I found the texture too thick and it would just sort of clump up and fall off the skin before I could really scrub away. Also the fragrance was neither here nor there for me.

Marvis Karakum toothpaste mini

What it is:  fancy lady Italian toothpaste

How long I had it: 2 months

Feelings:  I’m really into this toothpaste. It’s not too minty so it makes brushing real nice. I dunno man I just really like it.

Repurchased:  heckin yes.

Christophe Robin Intensive Hair mask mini

What it is:  a super rich conditioning mask

How long I had it: I got roughly 12 solid uses out of this lil container

Feelings:  I really really really liked this. I would love using a detox shampoo first and then following it with this mask. The only downside is the fragrance, I find it very old lady floral and it sadly lingers longer than I would like after it was rinsed out. The silky smooth results did makeup for the lingering fragrance though.

Repurchased:  yes but still unopened

Since this list includes  so many things collected over the final 2 months of 2018 I decided to do a little subcategory of just cleansers that I polishied off. I find it always takes me like 65 years to finish a cleaner so I’m really proud to have finished up 3!

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water

What it is:  a slightly acidic micellar water

How long I had it:  6 months

Feelings:  I purchased this because I was influenced heavily by positive reviews online. I should have sobered up first. This was far too expensive for what it was. It got the job but I honestly did not think this was that spectacular. I also managed to buy a bigger size than I really wanted, so towards the end I was very liberal with my use.

Repurchased:  nope

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery cleansing oil

What it is: an essential oil infused emulsifying cleansing oil

How long I had it: 7 months

Feelings:  Oh sweet baby did I love this! It has a nice light texture and a wonderful pump top. It is a little liquidy so it’ll splash if you pump too aggressively. I felt this did a great job melting away all my makeup and never made my skin feel stripped. It had a super fresh rinse off and left my skin feeling wonderful. The fragrance also made the experience very enjoyable.

Repurchased:  Oh Yes

Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip cleanser mini

What it is:  clay infused milky cleanser

How long I had it: 3 months

Feelings:  This is the new and improved ceramic slip and I gotta say I love it. I bought the new mini duo specifically to try this out and it did not disappoint. I used it for a couple trips I had between October and the end of the year and then just polished off the tube.

Repurchased:  Full size repurchased and on deck.

What’s more satisfying than finishing 3 cleansers? Finishing 2 moisturizer, 2 serums and a mini mask! I never thought I would be so proud to polish off skincare products in my whole life. There is some next level joy in that last swipe, dollop and drop of these topical skin elixirs!

CosRX Clear Fit Master Patch

What it is: thin hydrocolloidol patches

How long I had it: about a year

Feelings: I really liked these, I honestly didn’t notice much difference from the regular ones. I think they are a thinner texture so they’re less visible during the day but I never wore them out of the house.

Repurchased: nope

CosRX Acne Pimple Master Patch

What it is: a goo absorbing hydrocolloidol zit sticker

How long I had it: 3 months

Feelings: Whats not to love!? These things suck all the goobers right out of my face and definitely decrease the life of my zits

Repurchased: Yep!

Sunday Riley Good Genes mini

What it is: a lactic acid facial treatment serum

How long I had it: 1 month

Feelings: I got this mini size in the set I purchased for the new ceramic slip cleanser formula. I had a trip in October and this was the perfect size to travel with and I just polished off the container when I got home.

Repurchased: Yes but the full size, y’all know I love this stuff.

Aesop Parsley Seed Serum

What it is: a lightweight hydrating serum meets moisturizer full of antioxidants

How long I had it: woof, like 2 years with on and off use

Feelings: This is something that I would use and put on my shelf and not reach for in a while, but every time I grabbed it I always loved it. Despite finishing it in the dead of winter I much prefer to use this in warmer and transitional weather with a lightweight moisturizer.

Repurchased: not yet but strongly considering.

Sunday Riley C.E.O. Moisturizer

What it is: A Vitamin C infused hydrating cream

How long I had it: roughly 7 months very regular use with a few other creams tossed in here and there

Feelings: I LOVE this moisturizer!! I genuinely was not expecting to like this as much as I did. The texture was plush and creamy and my skin always felt super nourished. The vitamin C didn’t have an overwhelming effect but never caused irritation. I will say if I used something that was pretty strong underneath it sometimes it would tingle a little bit, but nothing extreme.

Repurchased: Yes, already using!

Herbivore Blue Tansy mask mini

What it is: a gently exfoliating and clarifying mask

How long I had it: about a year opened but only like 6 solid uses

Feelings: I really like this! I found the texture pretty easy to apply despite being pretty liquidy. It never tingled or burned and I always felt my skin looked better after I used it. It wasn’t the most aggressive mask in my collection but it always got the job done, especially if my skin was feeling a little sensitive or like general trash. I plan on purchasing the full size when I get through some of the other masks in my stash.

Repurchased: Not Yet.

Herbivore Pink Cloud Moisturizer

What it is: a light whipped rosewater moisturizer for all skin types

How long I had it: just shy of 5 months with regular use

Feelings: I was very pleasantly surprised I liked this moisturizer. Even though I finished this during the cooler month it might not be my favorite for winter here in Chicago. I found that on my skin it doesn’t layer too well with the many serums I have in my arsenal and it has a tendency to pill if I use too much product. That being said I absolutely love this moisturizer for warmer weather and warm to cool transitional weather. It smells great and leaves the skin feeling super plump and smooth after.

Repurchased: Yes

Lastly here are few bits that I polished off in the makeup department! I polished off some favorites and finally retired a couple of duds.

I’m not gonna break this down individually as I don’t have a lot to break down. I will say 4 of them are holy grails and the other 2 I don’t really care about, so I’ll start with the latter. The Stila eyeliner has a cult following and I gotta say I just don’t like it! I hated the felt tip and had zero color payoff over eyeshadow. The Diorshow Nude bb cream which honestly has been sitting in my cabinet almost finished for about a year, also it doesn’t exist anymore so it doesn’t matter if I like it or not. My faves of course are the tattoo liner and lock-it setting spray from Kat Von D, Hourglass arch shaping brow gel and the Urban Decay all nighter concealer. I have repurchased all of these and they’ve set up a stable home in my routine.

If you’ve made it this far congratulations, you deserve prize. That prize should be a really good latte or something, but make it whatever you want! Thanks for reading my novel of trash reviews please come back soon for some more inevitable garbage talk.
