January 2019 Trash Time

All right here it is, lets start the year strong (in February)! This January I finished quite a bit more products than I originally anticipated. I’m going to try a slightly different format for my first Empties post of 2019. Maybe this will become its own category on a menu bar in future but for now it’ll just be dumped in with the rest of the goods you come here for. So lets get to it then!

Skincare:

Bioderma Hydrabio mini

  • What it is: a travel friendly micellar water

  • How long I had it: 1 year roughly used as needed

  • Feelings: The hype is real y’all. This Bioderma business is no joke. I really enjoyed using this as an actual makeup remover versus a morning cleansing option. I got the one for dry and sensitive skin and I definitely feel like it left my skin feeling comfortable. I can’t wait to get this back into my routine as I finish up more products!

  • Repurchased: Yes! Although I’m going to try the Sensibio one with the pink cap to compare

Korres Greek Yoghurt Cleanser mini

  • What it is: a hydrating creamy cleanser with a foamy luxurious lather

  • How long I had it: 1 year 1 month very sporadic use

  • Feelings: I really enjoyed this cleanser but I didn’t love it. As you can see it took me ages to actually finish is. I felt it did sting my eyes so I couldn’t use it for makeup removal and it left my skin feeling a little tight. I liked it a little more in the summer but I was always willing to reach for another option. That said it does rinse clean so it probably caters more combination or normal skin types.

  • Repurchased: Nope

belif Problem Solution Essence

  • What it is: a clarifying but non drying serum/ essence hybrid

  • How long I had it: call it 7 months

  • Feelings: This is actually my second bottle of this stuff. I really really really like it in the summer. To be fair I didn’t actually finish this in January I just realized there wasn’t any product left when I reached for it the other day. I typically use this in my morning routine during the warmer months to help keep breakouts at bay. I find it helps my blemishes from getting worse or preventing them from appearing at all. It wouldn’t be my go to for clearing a really nasty or angry breakout but rather something to help it calm down a little and not progress any further. I’m taking a break from using too many products in my routine at the moment so there’s a chance I’ll pick this back up in the summer or let my routine live without it, only time will tell!

  • Repurchased: Maybe??

Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate

  • What it is: a luxe melting serum concentrate to instantly hydrate and plump the skin

  • How long I had it: year and half with several lengths of cabinet time

  • Feelings: I was very surprised by how much I liked this serum. The texture is super cool, its that of a gel that melts instantly on the skin. I found it left my skin hydrated and feeling silky smooth but other than that not much else...I’m not sure exactly what is getting retextrurized with this but either way my face felt amazing. I also felt the large bottle was too much. I wasn’t head over heels in love with this and it felt like my bottle lasted forever, so if you do like it the big size is worth that coin. I just have too many other hydrating serums *cough REN Flash Hydroboost cough* that I like more than this to give it an over the moon review.

  • Repurchased: Nah, maybe the small size in the future.

Indie Lee CoQ10 Toner mini

  • What it is: an antioxidant rich hydrating toner

  • How long I had it: 1 month but with infrequent use

  • Feelings: I have used this in the past so I was excited to try the “repackaged/ reformulated” option that’s less expensive. I liked it but something felt different. I remember the last time I used this I was finally like “oh that’s what a good toner feels like!” And I don’t feel like I had that again. I don’t know if its because the fragrance is slightly different or the sprayer makes it a different experience or the fact that it was a mini in a plastic tube so it might have changed in my cabinet.

  • Repurchased: reluctant yes because I want to use if for longer.

Marvis Rambas travel size

  • What it is: fancy lady Italian toothpaste

  • How long I had it: 2 months

  • Feelings: Love this stuff. This flavor is my second favorite and this is the fifth mini tube from the brand that I’ve finished. Im officially a Marvis convert!

  • Repurchased: Yes on the product no on the Flavor

Haircare

IGK Thirsty Girl

  • What it is: a spray anti- frizz leave in conditioner with coconut milk

  • How long I had it: opened 1 year with heavier use in the warmer months

  • Feelings: I really like this! I’ll probably keep this in my stash for a very long time. I do enjoy it year round but I def see better benefits in warmer weather. I like to layer with the Mistress hair balm to have the softest smoothest hair I can manage on my own!

  • Repurchased: Yep!

IGK Mistress Mini

  • What it is: a smoothing and protecting leave in hair balm

  • How long I had it: 7 months

  • Feelings: this might be my all time favorite hair product… It works great when I air dry my hair but doubles as a heat protectant when I blow dry or straighten my hair! I don’t think I could do my hair without this anymore??

  • Repurchased: Yes!

Makeup

Too Faced BTS Mascara Full/Mini size

  • What it is: A volumizing dramatic looking mascara

  • How long I had it: 3 months

  • Feelings: Love the product, Hate the name. I’m a fiend for layering mascaras and this always creates the boldest looking lashes.

  • Repurchased: Not yet, I’m trying out some other choices first

Maybelline Age rewind Concealer

  • What it is: a cushion tipped brightening concealer

  • How long I had it: too long

  • Feelings: I started off not really loving this concealer. I kept just pushing it to the back of my drawer and always looking for something different. I reached for this one day when I wanted a minimal look and was very pleased not only with the coverage but the wear time. It feels really good to finally have finished this concealer!

  • Repurchased: Yes, already using it!

Urban Decay Perversion Eyeliner

  • What it is: and inky black matte eye liner

  • How long I had it: again too long

  • Feelings: I have since moved on from using an aggressive amount of black liner and I found this little nugget dried up, and stuck in with my brow pencils. I tried to revive it with a sharpener and lighter to no avail, so sadly it is being retired. I really loved this formula but I just don’t need a liner like this lingering around. I have moved on to smoother gels and sharper liquids.

  • Repurchased: No
