7 Masks in 7 Days!

I thought I would pose myself a challenge and try to do 7 masks in 7 days. My game plan involves balancing out active masks with hydrating ones across a variety of brands and application methods. Hopefully this journey is exciting and fun and I’m left with my lipid barrier intact and glowing skin. I’m using this self imposed “challenge” to take stock of what I have floating around my cabinets. Instead of just tossing stuff willie nillie I’m at least going to give everyone a final chance, a rebuttle of sorts. Here’s hoping I don’t melt my face off *chin chin*

Monday:

Alrighty my darlings here we go! With my current work schedule Mondays are in fact my Sundays and therefore are twice as scary. I love to wind down my weekend and start my week fresh, often with an “everything shower” and a clarifying face mask. this week was no exception. I decided a deep pore cleanse featuring the Youth to the People Superclay Purify + Clear Mask was the prefect treat. I love this lil cutie because in just a few short minutes my skin feels less blegh but not sucked dry.

Results:

After rinsing my skin was left smooth and clean. I don’t feel like I’m stripping every last molecule of moisture from my lovely visage when I use this. It helps clear my congested pores and calms down any angry blemishes I have.

Tuesday:

So, after a long arduous day of work I thoroughly enjoy plopping down on the couch and settling into my finest blob form while gobbling down sweet treats. Tonight was no exception. I decided a lovely sheet mask would be the best course of action. I unearthed a Loops Beauty Night Shift mask which now that I’m thinking about it was most likely gently expired 😬. Regardless I still enjoyed my spa like evening.

results:

This hydrogel mask came in 2 pieces allowing for a good fit and ease of snack consumption. When applied it has little to no scent and felt quite cool on the skin. I will say it had a bit of the ‘cool burn’ in my current areas of sensitivity around my nose and mouth. Once the recommended 10 minutes were up, and the mask removed, my skin felt plump and hydrated. The rest of my routine that evening was a breeze leaving my face juicy and fresh.

Wednesday:

Okie dokie, Wednesday, hump day, time for a mid week pick me up ya? Wellll not quite, I’ve over masked in the past and although this week of masking is just taking off I decided to opt for a focused but gentle choice. With the fluctuating spring weather my lips have been so dry and chapped I thought a lil lip mask would be the perfect option. So, we’re back again with a Loops Beauty lip mask. Double the loops double fun! That’s what they say right? Or is that just for cereal…

results:

Almost invisible while on this hydrogel lip mask stayed on very well during the 10 minute wear time. It extended around the lips nicely hydrating everything under its comfortable coverage. It did have a slit in the middle which made for an emergency laugh session feasible followed by a reviving few sips of H2O. The serum left behind absorbed quickly and didn’t have a weird smell or taste.

Thursday:

My favorite day of the week! (No one knows why, not even me!) I thought a little exfoliation station would be a nice little jolt to the pores before the busy weekend. Therefore I’m going to use The Ordinary Peeling Solution. I have used this a couple times before with zero adverse reactions. This blood colored, liquid exfoliating mask is truly as good as they say.

results:

As always I rinsed it thoroughly after 8 minutes (my goldilocks time with this bad boy) and was left with my usual soft pink cheeks. My skin immediately felt softer and my pesky little nose pores were looking subtler. I always see the best results the morning after this mask and per usual I woke up with no redness, smaller blemishes and silkier skin.

Friday:

Party town USA! I thought some intense pampering after last night’s activities would be much apreesh. Enter the Skin Gym Pink Diamond hydrogel mask. This shining gem packs a powerful soothing punch that knocked the redness right from my cheeks. Extreme bonus the packet had almost a 1/2 ounce of serum left in it that I promptly decanted into one of my many empty bottles.

results:

This sparkly pink wonder is composed of 2 separate pieces of incredibly thick hydrogel with a delightfully soft fragrance. Per the instructions I left it on for 30 whole minutes, during which I enjoyed the subtle cooling effect imbued within its mystical goop. Upon removal I was surprised to see almost no redness in my skin and an ample amount of serum that quickly massaged into my cheeks. I topped up with a nice cream that left my features feeling bouncy and juicy.

Saturday:

So close now I can almost taste it! I have to admit it’s becoming a struggle to find choices that won’t overwhelm my poor little mug. I decided to take it easy tonight with a tried and true favorite the Avene Soothing Radiance Mask. Instead of the traditional wash off use I opted for the lesser used, but lesser steps, overnight usage.

results:

I slathered on a hefty amount after a good classic double cleanse and let the magic of Avene work its wonders. I woke up with soft cheeks and smooth skin.

Sunday:

Okay I’m over putting stuff on my face. I did a hand mask. It was lit. I used the Aveeno Repairing Cica hand mask and legit forgot to set a timer while watching White Collar on Hulu.

results:

This mask was leagues better than I expected. The fit was great, scent was low and pleasant, and hydration off the charts. It really absorbed well and cured my raggedy ass cuticles. Nice and easy, and the perfect way to end this week!

This week was hella fun. I didn’t ruin my face and I used up a few of the many masks in my obscenely large collection. I would also like to thank my aqua Versed croissant headband for holding my hair floofs out of the way during this trying time. If you have the resources I’d say a mask a day for a week is a fun way to schedule in some stellar self care time that also allows for snacks and TV viewing.
