Long Con

Hey y'all how ya doin?

I'm sitting over here getting all excited thinking about my weekend plans. What am I doing? Glad you asked I AM GOING TO C2E2!!! What's that you ask? Well its Chicago's premiere 3 day nerd fest that goes by the full name of Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo. Why does this matter? I'm going to be roaming around a convention center for 3 full days, laughing, sweating and huffing about. This can all lead to a catastrophic breakout if I'm not careful. I do a general weekend face prep and then maintain a pretty strict routine the full three days, which of course I'll tell you all about!

Pre-Con Maskening

I love a good mask, but I love 3 masks more! When I do multiple masks I always count my first step light exfoliation as mask one. As always my fave Aesop Purifying Exfoliant Paste did the trick. When I know I'm following with a detox mask I like to apply this in the shower in a thin layer all over my face. I let it sit for about 2 minutes then rinse it off. It always leaves my skin silky smooth and nice and clean. Afterwards I used my literal fave Dr. Jart Dermask Micro Jet Clearing Solution sheet mask.  After this detox party it was time rehydrate. I reached for the brand new Kiehl's Instant Renewal Concentrate Mask which just so happens to be Kiehl's only sheet mask!

As you can see this sheet mask looks vaguely like it's made of cheese, which I am aggressively into. First off I want to say I really liked this mask but I'm not sure I really loved this mask. For starters the fit, it clung to the face really well and the two piece construction makes it very snug. That being said the eye holes felt a little small and the mouth hole was definitely tight. Also I had to cut the nose flap because the light weight gel would cling to my nostrils every time I inhaled and I literally could not breath. Of course this was after I got it onto my face which was def its own ordeal. It had shifted in the packet and the outer film was coming off so the inside was a little bit wonky. It was very difficult to grab the actual sheet, it just kept slipping and sliding all over the place and at one pointed folded over onto itself, and this was just for the upper half! After having the top placed on my hands were covered in serum so the bottom half was just as trying. I almost dropped it into the sink but luckily I caught it. The instructions say to leave on for 10 minutes so obviously I did 15. I do regret that because it was feeling a little dry when I peeled it off and there wasn't much serum left to rub in. I attempted to scoop some out from the packet but there was very little left. I popped a little good genes on to help with my current blemishes, used 5 drops of midnight recover concentrated and topped everything off with my C.E.O. moisturizer. My skin is a little red through my chin which is normal but overall feels hydrated and very very plump!

Weekend Regular

Since this weekend is going to be full of trash food and nerding out I'm doing my slightly more intense routine. I'll be wearing a full face of makeup all three days so proper cleansing is critical. I'm all about the Farmacy Green Clean followed by the Aesop Purifying Facial Cream Cleanser. Since I'm using a more active serum (which I'll tell you about momentarily) I'm following with a gentle Huxley Extract It Toner and my Korres Golden Krocus Elixir. At the moment the Sunday Riley Good Genes is doing a great job with keeping my acne under control without aggravating my sensitive skin. After applying the elixir I apply only 1/2 pump of the good genes. I follow up with soothing hydration to lock everything into place, which is currently 5 drops of the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate and Sunday Riley C.E.O. Moisturizer. If needed I dab on a spot treatment then call it a day. This is a routine I normally utilize 2 to 3 times a week, by using it all weekend I hope to keep my skin ultra clean to prevent any potential breakouts.

At the show

This year I’m not being extra, so my tip is to be present and have fun!!
